With the summer now in full swing, we assume many of our readers will have one excursion or another planned for the coming days or weeks. We reckon a lot of you like to zone out when you’re traveling by bus, train, or plane. This is often something that can be done by listening to your favorite tunes or podcasts with ANC turned on to drown out outside noise. This is where Sandberg’s affordable Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC comes in. We were lucky enough to try out this budget-friendly device, and we quite enjoyed it for the most part.

Design

The Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC doesn’t come with any bells and whistles whatsoever. You’ll be treated to a simple black headset with only a small LED indicator, subtle buttons, and a very sober exterior in general. The headband looks sturdy, the ear cups sport an over-ear design, and the Sandberg logo is subtly printed onto the ear cups. It’s simple, it’s classy, and it doesn’t give a cheap impression.

Comfort

In terms of comfort, the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC didn’t really fall short. The over-ear design makes sure your ears don’t get squished, which makes the device a lot more comfortable for longer listening sessions. There is sufficient padding in the ear cups and the headband. You can mildly adjust the headband, but the headset is a bit stiffer than premium-priced models. We also noticed the headset gripped our head a bit tighter, which we weren’t a huge fan of. The latter is, of course, a matter of personal taste.

The foldable design of the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC makes it easier to store, which is certainly a plus. We would have loved it if the device came with a simple fabric pouch, as we needed to store the headset in our bag without protection. We can easily forgive Sandberg for not including this, as the headset itself is already extremely budget-friendly. We sadly notice that premium brands also often don’t include a protective pouch or case.

Overview

In terms of capabilities, the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC offers the basics, and that suffices in this case. Pairing works easily, and we were up and running in a matter of seconds. We tried out the device with our standard media devices, such as our smartphone, TV, and so on. There is no hassle to get things working. The function buttons are also easy to work with, as you can turn up or down the volume, skip tracks, pick up calls, activate ANC, etc. It’s all very straightforward, and there are no really complicated functions to mess around with. We did like the fact that you can play around with the equalizer, if you prefer to have more bass in the foreground, for example.

Battery life isn’t too bad either, as you’ll be able to use the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC for around 30 hours without ANC turned on, and 20 hours with it turned on. This means that you won’t have to constantly charge the headset after each listening session. These estimated times proved to be quite accurate. The device also comes with a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. The charging time is around two hours.

Budget-friendly devices have come a long way over the last few years, and the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC did not disappoint. The sound quality is great, and with the different equalizer settings, you’ll be able to adjust your preferences on the fly to listen to your favorite podcasts or music. We only found the ANC to be a bit too weak, as there was still quite a bit of outside noise seeping through. It was functional, but not on the same level as premium devices. Those on the receiving end of calls were able to enjoy fairly filtered audio thanks to the ENC. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised.

Conclusion

Sandberg’s Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC offers a great experience for a budget-friendly price. While we would have loved the headset to come with a protective pouch, and we wanted the ANC to be a bit stronger, we still enjoyed every minute of our listening sessions when using the Wireless Travel Headset ANC+ENC. We were treated to sufficient comfort, clear audio feedback, and an easy way to conduct our calls. All in all, we can recommend this headset when you’re on a budget and still want to treat yourself to a great product.
