Sol Ni Koro will take you on a 3D trip with 2D sprites

Nowadays, games need to be beautifully finished but there are still some developers out there that want to combine new technology with retro graphic styles. Back To Basic Gaming is making Sol Ni Koro, a new 3D RPG but uses 2D pixel sprites for a lot of the in-game elements. That isn’t all, as they also try to revive some old battling systems or pitfalls that aren’t really present these days. Nostalgia surely is a word that pops to mind when looking at the graphics and gameplay style.

As the game is in 3D, you’re able to turn the map to find secret passages or to get a better view of the area. This means you can go treasure hunting but this isn’t a necessity of course. You’ll be traveling the world of Varos, filled with monsters that you need to tackle. You’ll be able to develop the four characters by levelling up or obtaining scrolls. These will provide other bonuses as well, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for these items. This game is in Steam Greenlight at the moment, so take a look if you’re interested.
