Starter Pokémon Evolutions and more announced for Pokémon Sun and Moon
A plethora of new information regarding the latest games in the Pokémon franchise – Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon – has been revealed. Both games are set to release on 23 November and will be exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS handheld consoles.
The three starter Pokémon players will be able to choose from upon starting their adventure are Rowlet, Litten and Popplio. Now the evolved forms of these first-partner Pokémon has also been revealed. Dartrix, the grass-flying Blade Quill Pokémon evolves from Rowlet and can attack with its knife-edged feathers. As an owl-like creature, Dartrix also possesses extremely sharp senses allowing it to detect opponents from behind. Litten evolves into Torracat, producing flames for its attacks from a bell-like sac attached to the base of its throat. We assume its heavily inspired by cats as it can see in the dark and is able to detect the presence of hidden enemies. It’s doubtful that it has nine lives though. The last but certainly not least of the start Pokémon is Popplio which evolves into the Pop Star Pokémon Brionne. This cheery and positive Pokémon can dance in perfect time with others and is a very hard worker. By dancing around, Brionne will create balloons, slapping them onto targets and dealing damage as they explode.
Communication features are bundled in the new Festival Plaza where players will be able to see other players near them, or other players that are connected to the internet to battle or trade. Conversing with people in the Festival Plaza can yield Festival Coins which players can spend in stores such as dye houses, goody shops and even bouncy castles. The more Festival Coins you earn, the higher you will rank, yielding even more rewards.
Another new feature is the Poké Pelago. Pokémon that are stored in a PC box will no longer be bored as they can now explore a variety of isles in Poké Pelago. They can now also play in athletic equipment and enjoy many other fun activities. If many Pokémon are sent to the isles, more facilities can be developed which in turn can lead to new kinds of isles. Players can obtain items and even raise Pokémon the more developed the isles are so make sure that your Pokémon are never idling around.
Pokémon that were able to Mega Evolve in the previous Pokémon games will also be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon which is perfect because we all love Mega Evolution. The Mega Stones can be received from characters in-game or from special shops.
The Pokémon Global Link will be updated for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon and will be available as soon as the game launches. The updated site will have new features – including new online competitions and global missions.
Those who cannot wait to play the game can rejoice in the fact that a demo version of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be made available as of 18 October. The Special Demo Version introduces players to the Alola region and features Ash-Greninja (seen in Pokémon the Series: XYZ). Once the game has fully launched, players can transfer their Ash-Greninja from the Special Demo Version to their full version of the game.
