Here’s a little update about the turn-based war game Sword of the Stars: Ground Pounders concerning the Android version of this game. I’ve already discussed the goals and different phases of Ground Pounders on PC and as the Android version is completely the same game, I’ll give you a quick head-ups about how the game feels and plays on a mobile device or tablet. The Android version works quite well, if you don’t count the occasional stutter when moving the map around the screen or the “Victory is yours” popup showing a little too long which causes you to think that you’re dealing with a freeze on your mobile. All and all, it might need some more polishing up so that one would prefer the Android version over the PC version.

Both the PC and Android version now have air units added to the roster. They bring another tactical option as air units for example can occupy the same hex as a ground unit but in a different elevation. Later, the developers will add submarine and subterranean units, who can also be placed at the same hex that’s already occupied by a ground unit and/or an air unit. So eventually you’ll be able to place 3 different kind of units on one hex. Switching between elevations is child’s play with the arrow keys pointing up and down at the left of the map.

It’s nice to see how Sword of the Stars: Ground Pounders keeps evolving and how adding new units makes the game even more tactical. Kerberos Productions is certainly on the right way with this early build.

Just something I’d like say for the people who are considering backing this game on Kickstarter: starting at the $50 pledge, backers will receive a set of nice looking Sword of the Stars Dice along with some other cool extras!
