The Edge of Allegoria makes the jump to the Switch today
Button Factory Games and CobraTekku Games have announced the Switch release of their turn-based 2D role-playing game The Edge of Allegoria. Originally released on PC, the game offers monochrome Game Boy–inspired visuals, irreverent humor, and an expansive world. In The Edge of Allegoria, players take on the role of a protagonist who embarks on a journey through Allegoria following a midlife crisis. Along the way, players can explore the map, uncover secrets, and engage in traditional turn-based combat enhanced by a modern mastery system.
Featuring a wide variety of content, the game was designed to provide players with long-lasting replayability. The world is home to no less than 145 monster types, 41 boss battles, 31 dungeons, and six divine beings, each with their own distinct domain. Combat is supported by a large arsenal of 96 weapons, each offering unique skills that can be mastered and permanently added to a player’s repertoire through repeated use. Alongside its substantial gameplay content, the title incorporates a humorous tone that contrasts with the stark visual style, combining nostalgic presentation with unconventional storytelling. By blending retro aesthetics with modern mechanics, The Edge of Allegoria seeks to appeal to both long-time fans of classic handheld RPGs and new players looking for a distinctive twist on the genre. The Edge of Allegoria is now available on Nintendo Switch via the eShop, as well as via PC, for $24.99 / €24.99 / £22.49.
