The future of in-headset audio mixing
Immersive audio specialist Dear Reality has just announced its “SPATIAL CONNECT for Wwise” project. The project is technically supported by Audiokinetic as their development team added certain features to its Wwise audio middleware, that have enabled Dear Reality to implement their SPATIAL CONNECT plugin. This enables game audio designers to work fully immersed in their VR and AR audio productions. By allowing in-game and in-headset mixing to bring forth the perfect experience that improves workflow for next-generation XR productions.
Producing audio for VR and AR games, or XR experiences can be quite exhausting as developers must switch between viewing their work with a VR headset and making changes on their desktop. Thanks to SPATIAL CONNECT for Wwise designers can now test and mix the game sound directly into the headset. Another great function is that thanks to the software sound engineers can identify hard-to-trace problem sounds and get a better understanding on the in-game spatial audio by visualizing the location of active sound elements directly into the VR headset.
