Today’s release of Painkiller is what the doctor ordered!

3D Realms and Anshar Studios have released Painkiller, a modern reimagining of the classic first-person shooter. The new version retains the fast-paced combat and gothic atmosphere that defined the original series while introducing several new features, including a cooperative campaign for up to three players and a separate roguelike mode called “Rogue Angel.” Players will battle through large, detailed environments using a range of upgradeable weapons to stop the fallen angel Azazel’s invasion of Earth. The game also features a tarot card system that allows players to customize abilities and tactics, emphasizing replayability across handcrafted arenas filled with demonic enemies and large-scale boss battles.
Players can choose between four playable characters—Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch—each offering different attributes to suit varied playstyles. The game combines single-player and cooperative modes with a focus on fast movement, diverse environments, and a mix of new and classic weapons. Painkiller is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game is available in Standard and Deluxe Editions. The Standard Edition is priced at $39.99|£34.99|€39.99, while the Deluxe Edition, at $49.99|£44.99|€49.99, includes the base game and a Season Pass containing three future DLC packs with additional character and weapon skins.
