Disney Pixar brings us Toy Story Mania! The inspiration for this game comes from the new attraction in Disneyland Resort California. It’s a 3-dimensional fast-paced ride which tests your reaction skills by putting on your 3D-glasses while shooting characters from the Toy Story movie franchise. But can the game bring home this action-packed adventure? Let’s find out below.

Story:

The game actually has a story mode without a story. You just start playing a bunch of minigames and at the end you get a total score. It’s playable from 1 till 4 players, which can be fun. But it would have been much better if they had took the time and created a little story to go with story mode.

Graphics:

Graphically the game looks like a typical Wii game ported to PS3, Xbox360 and PC. It could have looked better but for a game like this, it kind of works.
The design of the surroundings really gives you that Typical Toy Story feeling.

Sound:

The game provides us with the original cast, which means all characters have their recognizable voices. The tunes are kind of fun at the beginning, however after hearing them too much they kind of started to be a little bit annoying at times.

Gameplay:

The game consists out of minigames. There is no story, so you are thrown right into the action and have to start shooting at the targets. You can play the game with the Move controller or with the Dual Shock 3 controller.

By testing the game with the 2 controllers I found the game much easier to play with the Dual Shock controller. Mainly due to the fact that it was quite impossible to play the minigames where you have to roll a ball to hit the targets with the move controller. No matter what I did, I could not get that ball to move as I wanted. On the other hand the level where you had to slice objects in 2, was easier with the Move controller but not at all impossible with the Dual Shock. The shooting levels then were equally playable with both controllers.

Toy Story Mania! is playable from 1 till 4 players, so you guessed it right, you can multiplay with up to 4 people on the same big screen (not on a screen that is divided into 4 little ones). This makes it more fun as you have to be as quick as you can to hit your targets and score points before your opponents shoot everything down and leave you behind with no points at all. But that probably won’t happen as there are enough targets to shoot at.

Conclusion:

The game is probably a fun souvenir after you got in the ride with the same name in Disneyland Resort to play at home afterwards. But in all other cases I wouldn’t recommend this game to the average gamer except for children. If you have a birthday party or a gathering of nieces and nephews this could be the ideal game to keep them occupied for a while. But for any other reason I wouldn’t put this game in my collection. So the final score you see is higher than I expected and this is solely for the reason that it is a fun game for kids.
