Vagante heads to consoles this month!

After receiving widespread acclaim on PC, roguelite platformer Vagante is set to arrive on consoles later this month. The game, from developer Nuke Nine is coming to Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S courtesy of Spanish indie publisher BlitWorks. Vagante is a roguelike that puts emphasis on combat. Players can join up with up to 3 other friends locally or online to tackle dangerous dungeons inhabited by fierce creatures and bosses as they search for an insurmountable treasure. The game stands out not only through its challenging class-based gameplay, but also through its unique art direction, which uses desaturated but warm colors, with a bit of a gritty style, influenced by titles like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Vagrant Story.

The development of Vagante took over five years, and the PC version was incredibly well-received. The community has seen continuous growth since 2014, starting with a successful Kickstarter campaign, then through Early Access and word of mouth. The game currently has over 3000 player reviews on Steam, 90% of them positive. The quality of the game and the organic growth in the number of players caught the attention of BlitWorks (which has previous experience working on other roguelites with online multiplayer, such as Spelunky 2 and Heroes of Hammerwatch: Ultimate Edition) to port and publish the game to consoles, thus enabling many new players to discover the fascinating world of Vagante. With a January 27th release date announced, it won’t be long before you’ll be able to do so for yourself on your platform of choice.
