Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has come a long way since its release back in 2022. We enjoyed the core experience back then, but the game felt like it was missing content and suffered from quite a few bugs and crashes. Nonetheless, the team behind the game managed to turn things around by adding a massive talent tree for all the different classes, thus making them a lot more versatile. This also allowed players to tinker more with their favorite class(es) and try out different builds. In the spirit of class diversity, we will be taking a closer look at the Arbites Class DLC, which allows you to play with the Arbitrator and his trusty Cyber-Mastiff.

If you buy the Arbites Class DLC, you’ll simply unlock the new Arbitrator class, which you can use right off the bat. You’ll have to, of course, level your new Arbitrator character from scratch, but you have the option to play through the campaign or skip it altogether. The Arbitrator’s standard loadout is a new shotgun that packs a proper punch and can still hit targets from a reasonable range. You’ll have an electrified mace as your melee weapon. We quickly unlocked the mace and riot shield combo, which presented us with a new melee experience. With this loadout, we could play defensively, stun a mob with an electrified pulse, and then dive right in to finish them off.

The Arbitrator is not just fun to play with from the start; it’s also a great class to experiment with. We loved the Cyber-Mastiff enhancing talents, but you can also opt for more defensive abilities, stronger grenades, mines, and so on. There’s a variety of builds to try out here, and while you can mix and match your talent points any way you want, you’ll still have to make some defining choices here and there. You can even opt to play without your trusty four-cyber-legged companion and play as a lone wolf. As you progress, you’ll also unlock more weapon types as the ones we mentioned above, and you may even find yourself wielding a shield and pistol combo.

Conclusion

While the price of entry might be a tad high for the Arbites Class DLC, we did thoroughly enjoy leveling our Arbitrator when playing through the latest updates of the game. The Arbitrator class proved to be versatile and great for players who tend to wander away from the group at times, as it offers survivability, high offense power, and even supportive skills. The fact that this class comes with a combat-ready pet is just the icing on the cake. Of course, lone wolves can still leave the Cyber-Mastiff in its kennel, but we truly loved the mayhem of a full squad of Arbitrators and Cyber-Mastiffs. If you were an early adopter and haven’t played since the very beginning, we advise you to hop back in and experience the changes, as the game does feel quite a bit different now. If you like what’s new, then the Arbites Class DLC might be worth picking up.
