You can try being a Terrible Influence at PAX Unplugged
Terrible Influence, a dark comedy board game from WatchMojo and comedy writer Mark Cope, will have its first public demo at PAX Unplugged 2024. Visitors can try the game from Friday, December 6, through Sunday, December 8, at Forever Stoked’s booth #3709 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Inspired by the creators’ experience with pop culture and media, Terrible Influence offers a satirical take on the pursuit of fame and fortune. WatchMojo, a leading YouTube brand with over 45 million subscribers, and Mark Cope, known for The Most Popular Girls in School and Dr. Havoc’s Diary, bring their unique perspectives to craft the game’s cynical humor. Players assume the roles of rising influencers, such as podcasters, vloggers, or reality TV stars, and compete to gain fans, wealth, and power while navigating scandals and public scrutiny.
Features:
- Scandals and Challenges: Survive Leaked DMs, Internet Trolls, and “Cancel” cards using clever strategies and resourceful PR maneuvers.
- Character Development: Build careers from scratch and gain skill cards like Incredibly Good Looking or Great Personality—but not both at once.
- Role-Playing Opportunities: Act out sponsor ads or acceptance speeches to secure additional rewards.
- Winning Condition: Accumulate the most fame and wealth to achieve ultimate influence and win the game by becoming president.
Terrible Influence is set to launch on Kickstarter in early 2025.
