First trailer for City of the Shroud revealed

The first trailer for the real-time tactical brawler City of the Shroud has been revealed, showcasing new gameplay experiences and narratives to tactical RPGs. Using a real-time tactical fighting system where the player can unleash special moves, build powerful combos and outmaneuver their opponent is largely the combat system found in City of the Shroud. This new type of tactical gameplay also offers a new approach to interactive fiction based on the actions of each player.

To celebrate the release of the very first trailer, a community-driven story preview has also been released exclusively for Kickstarter backers and media. Backers of the City of the Shroud Kickstarter campaign will get access to a 4-part mini-story that will release periodically over the remaining time of the campaign. This means that there will be a new episode every 7 to 10 days for backers to play. The choices you make in each episode will drive the story in a live campaign. At the same time, the demo reveals how the system will work in the final version of the game where the narrative will play out on a much larger scale.

Moira Katson, the chart-topping author who will be writing the live campaign, explains that “moving from novels to video games has been an incredible challenge, and I am so excited to bring this story to life.”

If you want to influence the evolution of the story by playing the latest episode when it releases, you’ll want to back up the Kickstarter campaign. City of the Shroud is found on Steam Greenlight right here.
