Panzer General Online
I’m not what you would call super familiar with the Panzer General series of games, in fact you could probably say that I have never played an installment and you would probably be right. or wrong. The Panzer General series is set to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary since the original game was first released and to help celebrate the franchise and to bring it to even more people Ubisoft announced Panzer General Online.
The upcoming addition to the Panzer General games is a first for the franchise as it breaks its way into both free-to-play and browser based genres.
You’ll still be getting a single-player campaign in the form of ‘advanced tutorials’ that take place during historical battles like the invasion of Omaha Beach and Monte Cassino. The real meat and potatoes of the game however takes place in multiplayer, utilizing a card battle interface (makes sense) players will collect and trade various units among each other as they build out their own personal armies that they use to battle other generals.
As you can tell from the trailer it seems like the visuals will take the form of plastic or tin army men, the kind you used to play with as a kid. At least I did, until they found themselves in Army Men Vietnam where I melted them all with a lighter.
The game is being developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte the developers behind many of Ubisofts other franchises take on browser based games such as Anno Online, The Settlers Online, Silent Hunter Online, and of course Might & Magic Heroes Online.
The game is set to make its way into closed beta later this year, if you’re interested you can always sign up and hope to get in.
