Even though we love to review different gaming peripherals for our intense gaming sessions, we also love to take a closer look at internet solutions that make sure we have a stable connection when playing online games. There’s no worse feeling than to disconnect during a winning game, or to experience lag due to a lousy wifi signal. We have looked at several NETGEAR products in the distant past, but we also tried out a few of AVM’s highly coveted routers and repeaters. Now, in preparation for our FRITZ!Box 7530 AX review, we hooked up the FRITZ!Repeater 3000 to boost our signal.

Truth be told, a review such as this can be wrapped up after a few sentences, as AVM’s repeater works perfectly fine and does have a great radius to work with. In many ways, that’s all you need to know when buying a repeater such as this. The FRITZ!Repeater 3000 has an extremely simple setup, and depending on if you have other AVM products in your house, such as a FRITZ!Box router, then you’ll be able to properly use the ‘mesh’ capabilities of this repeater. The mesh function means that your existing network just gets expanded by the repeater, and you won’t need a new password or credentials to access the new wifi access point in your network. It’s clear that AVM wants its users to use their specific ‘ecosystem’ to have the best possible experience. Connecting the repeater to a FRITZ!Box comes as easy as pressing the WPS button on the repeater first, and then on the router. You’ll be good to go in about two minutes.

Connecting the repeater with the router of another brand is also possible, but you’ll then get treated to a more traditional repeater that serves as a new access point. If this is what you’re looking for, you’re probably just as good with a standard cheaper repeater. Nonetheless, AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 3000 still performs very well. Once again we do wish to mention that if your internet subscription provides you with a slow connection, the repeater will not boost the quality of your connection. A repeater such as this can only expand your wifi signal to other spots in your house, apartment, or place of business, making sure that every nook and cranny has the same quality connection as you would get for devices close to your router. The FRITZ!Repeater 3000 also comes with the option to connect two LAN Devices. This is a useful feature to connect other devices to the internet that lack wifi capabilities, or to ensure a slightly better connection.

Conclusion

AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 3000 is a great asset in a household with a FRITZ!Box router. If you own several of AVM’s products, you’ll notice that the mesh functionalities are an absolute delight to work with and that the price of the slightly more expensive repeater is very much worth it. The easy setup and added LAN functionalities are bonuses we very much enjoyed. Those who are looking for a generic repeater to boost their network will still find a quality device here, but some of the functions that the FRITZ!Repeater 3000 has to offer will go to waste.
