Christmas arrives early in The Outlast Trials
Today, Red Barrels, the indie developer behind the Outlast franchise, launches the Winter Kills update for The Outlast Trials. This limited-time event, running from December 12 to January 9, brings a festive theme with new cosmetics, challenges, and quality-of-life improvements, including full controller support. The Winter Kills update introduces in-game lore and offers a chilling experience for players.

- Winter Kills Program: Experience the new Cold Snap and Find the Gifts variators, providing a true suffering experience for survivors.
- Winter Kills Cosmetics: Complete exclusive trials and challenges to unlock festive-themed character and sleep room enhancements.
- New MK-Challenges: Explore two new tests at the Courthouse (Escape the Courthouse and Destroy the Evidence).
- New Evidence Documents: Continue the investigation into the shady Murkoff Institute.
- Cell Decoration Bundles: Introducing deluxe decoration packages for personal cells.

Launched on PC in May 2023, The Outlast Trials achieved phenomenal success, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide during its Early Access phase. Red Barrels has announced the game’s full release on March 5, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game is available for pre-order in two versions: Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition which adds the Reagent Starter Pack, containing 4 exclusive legendary player skins, exclusive cell items, player icons, and cell posters. Players who preorder either version will receive the Grizzly Hazmat Outfit.
