CinéArt announces first releases of the year

Film distributor CinéArt has announced the first titles that they will be bringing to home media in 2023: French drama Les Passagers de La Nuit and unconventional thriller Holy Spider.

Directed by Mikhaël Hers, Les Passagers de La Nuit features Charlotte Gainsbourg in a wonderful lead role as Elisabeth. The film beautifully portrays Paris in the 1980s. Elisabeth is trying to find her way in life again after her divorce. At the same time, a new political and social era is dawning in France. When Elisabeth is abandoned by her husband, she is left with her two teenagers, Matthias and Judith. She finds work at a night-time radio show, where she meets the wandering Talulah. Soon she takes the young, displaced woman under her wing. Talulah discovers the warmth of a home and Matthias feels what it is like to be in love for the first time. As Elisabeth watches the youngsters, she will have to find her own worth and rediscover that life does have something to offer her. Les Passagers de La Nuit is available on DVD starting January 20th.

Based on a true story, Holy Spider from director Ali Abbasi combines a thrilling drama with insight into Iranian society and the position of women, with the film touching on current events. Journalist Rahimi arrives in Mashhad, Iran’s holiest city. Here she goes to investigate a series of murders of prostitutes, considered sinful. She soon discovers that, as a woman, she needs to know her place. While creating new victims, Rahimi takes ever greater risks to still find out the identity of the killer. Holy Spider arrives on DVD on the 3rd of February.
