First Look at Brazil – Pedro II Leads in Civilization VI

2K and Firaxis Games have today revealed details on Brazil, which will be one of the 16 playable nations available on launch, including that fact that Brazil’s leader will be Pedro II. If you’ve played a lot of Civilization in the past, you may well recognise Pedro II as he also led Brazil when they were introduced in the Brave New World expansion for Civ V. The developers have previously hinted that the personality of each ruler’s real life counterpart will have a big impact on how each nation should be played, and how the AI will act when you come up against them. So you might just benefit from doing some homework.

“Groomed for rule from the age of five after his father abdicated the throne and fled to Europe, Pedro II was known for his strong devotion to his people despite his resentment towards the monarchy that robbed him of so much of his childhood. Despite this adversity and the crumbling state of the Empire his father left him with, Pedro II managed to steer Brazil towards prosperity until he was suddenly usurped in a surprise military coup d’état and exiled to Europe, where he remained until his death in 1889.”
