Home Release – Heavenly Sword
Do you guys remember the game Heavenly Sword? It was one of the very first PS3 games and now, you’ll get the chance to relive the story on a different way.
For those not familiar with the video game, here’s a small summary of the story. Nariko (played by Anna Torv in the movie) has known a difficult childhood as her father Shen (Nolan North) looks to her as a complete failure (he apparently really wanted a son instead of another daughter). A prophecy proclaims that a son would become the legitimate heir to the Heavenly Sword, a magical sword that will certainly defeat evil conqueror Bohan (Alfred Molina).
One day, Nariko is under attack by Bohan’s troops and Shen sees no other solution than to give the Heavenly Sword to Nariko, for safekeeping. It’s up to Nariko now to find her younger brother Loki (Thomas Jane) so he can make the prophecy come true. Nariko’s sister, the eccentric Kai (Ashleigh Ball), will accompany her. There’s only one tiny issue. Apparantly, the Heavenly Sword can’t be wielded by a mortal without killing it’s owner. For Nariko, the search for her brother becomes a race against time as the longer she wields the sword, the more certain her sacrifice becomes.
Heavenly Sword will be available on the 23th of June on DVD and Blu-ray and the movie is already available on Video On Demand.
