Huawei has always been a go-to brand for affordable smartphones, although this brand also has higher tier models with quite powerful onboard specifications. With the Android market being very open to competition, you find decent models at a very affordable price. Samsung is the most popular brand and Huawei actually comes in second, which is a very good score for a Chinese manufacturer. Today we are looking at the Mate 20 Lite model. We can only guess that Lite stands for elite given the powerful onboard processing power.

Design

Borderless design is something pioneered by big companies such as Apple and Samsung to give you as much screen as possible without having too much frame around it. While most phones still use the basic layout that is easy to manufacture and to replace when it breaks down, some designers however will utilize FHD design, this FullView Display is used to pack as much information as possible at your fingertips with the removal of unused space. This means that space around the upper speaker is now used as screen and lower buttons are now software-based instead of physical on the phone. Not only does this give a large increase in screen size, this also makes for more comfortable working with your device. The Huawei Mate 20 Lite has a very sleek design. Although it is large, it fits nicely into your hands and the blue color is both elegant and beautiful. There are only two physical buttons on the device: volume and power (also used for locking the screen). The two frontal and two rear-mounted cameras with more than 20 megapixels allow you to capture life-lasting memories at a screen tap.

Comfort

While the phone looks good, it kind of feels awkward holding it. When first picking it up, you do feel the nice materials used, the screen is smooth and easy to use and the case itself is made from beautiful metal that just feels right. It has this cold metal feel to it and is sturdier than plastic cases. Although it feels like a million dollar, having this phone in your hands is equivalent to holding a brick. This is because the phone itself has a strong rectangular shape, whereas most phones want to be as smooth as possible. However, thanks to its shape and materials used, it doesn’t feel heavy at all. The phone has a decent weight because of its metal case, but it’s not too heavy for long-continued use.

Due to the sleek design that utilizes the full body of the phone as a screen, the only physical buttons are on the right side. One is used for volume purposes and the other is to lock or boot the phone. These have a very nice ‘click’ to them and feel like they will last for a decade. At the bottom you have the charging port and headphone jack. Inserting the SIM Card is done via a card slot at the left side of the phone and the user can decide to either have two SIM Cards or one card and a Micro SD for extra storage. The extra storage isn’t really necessary given the 64-gigabyte internal memory.

Overview

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is an Android phone that runs on Android 8.1. This operating software is popular worldwide for its many customization options and user-friendliness. The whole phone works like a charm and because of its large screen and powerful processor, this is a phone that will be very popular amongst the end-users. It’s in the medium price range and seems like a good investment because the build quality feels like that of a top-range model. The screen is 6.3 inch in size and because of the borderless FHD design, that size is optimally used. Its colorful screen makes everything feel vivid when displaying pictures, watching videos or playing games. If you like to take selfies or record many parts of your life, you will be happy with the professional cameras mounted on the device.

Capturing life-lasting moments with this device is a pleasure: the cameras work perfectly and are high quality (20+ megapixels). Having a professional camera at your side at all times ensures that you don’t have to carry around an expensive professional camera for your holiday snaps.

If you are a person that likes to game, you will be happy to hear about its gaming possibilities. Its 2.2 Ghz processor and 4 GB Ram memory make it a fast gaming machine that can run the most heavy graphical games without a hiccup. The phone is ideal for multitaskers who love to have multiple applications running and thanks to its 3750 mAh battery with quick charge, you will make it through the night with ease.

Conclusion

This Huawei will be your Mate alright. With its high performing specs and its budget-friendly price tag, this will be a good investment. Overall build quality is amazing with a fast processor, excellent cameras and large internal memory, which will make this your preferred sidekick. Its rougher shape will turn you down at first and it will take some time getting used to this, but thereafter, you can fully enjoy this beast.
