Mortal Kombat 1 gets an epic live action trailer!
Warner Bros. Games has unveiled a fresh live-action trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the highly anticipated addition to the renowned franchise developed by NetherRealm Studios. The game is set to release on September 19. The trailer, titled It’s In Our Blood, directed by Tom Kuntz with cinematography by Academy Award-nominated Matthew Libatique (known for his work in A Star Is Born), pays homage to the iconic Mortal Monday spot that left its mark in 1993, becoming a cultural touchstone for the popular game series. In a contemporary reinterpretation of the original TV spot from thirty years ago, actor and producer Dave Bautista leads a diverse cast of characters, uniting them through an internal struggle. Bautista’s role mirrors that of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1, where he plays a pivotal role in revitalizing the Mortal Kombat universe, rallying champions from various realms to defend his vision.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest chapter in the acclaimed Mortal Kombat video game franchise by NetherRealm Studios. It introduces a refreshed Mortal Kombat universe through a captivating narrative, reimagining iconic heroes and villains in novel ways. Featuring an expanded roster of legendary fighters like Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden, the game delves into intricate backstories and introduces cameo fighters to aid in battles. Fans can also look forward to downloadable content (DLC) via the Kombat Pack, which includes playable characters such as Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda, along with guest warriors like Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander. The Kombat Pack is available for pre-order as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition and Kollector’s Edition. Furthermore, all Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will receive Shang Tsung as a playable character. Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on September 19 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
