Slightly over two months ago, we had our first encounter with the ‘Pretty Girls‘ franchise. This franchise features busty anime ladies in combination with everyday games. In the case of Pretty Girls Speed, we were playing the card game called ‘Speed’. We found that the game had decent mechanics, but it lacked an incentive to keep playing and the game simply didn’t have that much to offer. Now we move towards a more zen-like experience with Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire, a game in which we play Four Kings Solitaire. We felt the game was very similar to Pretty Girls Speed, but there were perhaps a few more goals to work towards.

Story

The game has absolutely no story value whatsoever. You have busty babes talking to you in Japanese, with no subtitles, and for all you know they might just be stating the ingredients to make a certain dish. If you dive into this title expecting a story, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Graphics

As was clear from the introduction and the game’s title, Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire features a lot of pretty girls. These voluptuous ladies will always stand on the left side of your screen, next to the playing field. They don’t really do much there, except for speaking a bit, but we reckon gamers looking for fanservice will easily find it here. The game’s UI is very clean, and even in handheld mode, everything is very clear. You can also place the characters you unlock in very simplistic dioramas.

Sound

As a whole, Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire’s sound design is actually not that bad. The voice acting of the girls is decently handled, but sadly the game comes with no subtitles so we have no idea what the characters are talking about. The sound effects are also decent, albeit very basic. We were actually quite impressed by the game’s soundtrack, as it provides a nice backdrop and it never truly gets repetitive.

Gameplay

As the name may imply, Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire is all about playing Four Kings Solitaire with a few pretty digital ladies talking to you while you play the game. The game combines fanservice with a card game, and this works to a certain extent, albeit thanks to the solid mechanics. While the girls may win over a few gamers, the game’s mechanics are probably the highlight. Playing the game with a controller is very easy and this port also supports touchscreen controls, which is also a plus. Other than trying out a few difficulty options to unlock more girls, the game does not feature that much content.

In Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire you do have a few goals to work towards. The game challenges you to complete stages on higher difficulties to unlock more ladies to choose from. Again, these new girls don’t do much more than stand on the left side of your screen. Nonetheless, it does create an incentive to continue playing and to also try out higher difficulties. On top of that, there are also online leaderboards. You can try to beat some records, and with some luck, your score might be high enough to be featured in the top 10.

Conclusion

Pretty Girls Four Kings Solitaire offers a very similar experience to Pretty Girls Speed, albeit with a few more goals to work towards. The game’s mechanics were very solid, but the overall pretty girls’ theme sometimes feels like a shtick that has not been fleshed out properly. Outside of a few girls you can unlock, there is not much in terms of content. We do realize a card game such as this has limited options, but a bit more content would have certainly been nice. Perhaps even the option to compete directly against other players online would have added a certain thrill factor to the mix. Nonetheless, if you like pretty girls and the Four Kings Solitaire card game, then you might end up liking this title.
