Simulation titles in which you manage your own store are truly booming, and titles such as Supermarket Together or TCG Card Shop Simulator are some of the staples of the subgenre. There have been quite a few other similar titles, and most of them follow the same formula, creating an accessible experience for gamers who want to build their digital store franchise. This time, we are taking a look at Supercar Collection Simulator, another store simulator, albeit with a fairly interesting twist. In this game, your digital store will sell collectible toy cars, which you can actually use in tabletop races as well. Of course, it’s not all work and no play, as you can also collect these spiffy-looking Hot Wheels-esque cars.

We’ll start by saying that the game’s name might be somewhat misleading, as Supercar Collection Simulator is about a lot more than simply starting your own collection of toy cars. You’ll actually be opening a shop that sells these cars along with many race tracks and accessories, such as launchers and collectible cards. You’ll have to manage everything that comes along with it, such as your inventory, your showroom, and even decorative items if you choose to do so. As time progresses, you can even turn your showroom into a playroom as well.

Even though the visual presentation does have a few rough edges, mainly when it comes to your clients clipping through other clients and assets, the graphics are quite good. The products look nice, there is a lot of variety when it comes to the collectible car models, the art on the power-up cards is fun, and you have some customization options for your store. We would perhaps like to see some more color options for your store or even the shelves, but that’s just us nitpicking. It’s rather satisfying to slowly turn your small shop into a bigger store where supercar enthusiasts can come browse the wares and play a couple of friendly races against other customers. Keep in mind, games like this are a bit of a grind, and Supercar Collection Simulator does have quite a bit of micromanaging you’ll have to do. You’ll be stuck at the register most of the day, so you’d best do your orders before opening time or after closing time. Every day, the market price of your goods also changes, so you might need to adjust all prices in the morning as well. Luckily, if you have multiple identical products on different shelves, you adjust the retail price for all of them at once.

Most of the game’s management features are handled via your trusty in-game tablet. You’ll order stock, furniture, expand the showroom, and so on, via the different apps. It’s all fairly straightforward, and so is the rest of the game. You’ll have to go to price tags to adjust prices, you can open boxes to perhaps find a few cool cars for your collection, and you can sit at one of the tables to play. For a duel, you’ll pick a car from your collection and a power-up card, and then you hope for the best. If you lose, you’ll have to give your opponent the car you raced with. Things never get too complex, which makes this an accessible title in the simulation genre. We also appreciated keyboard input for the card reader when in-game clients decided to pay via card.

As this is still an Early Access project that just went live, there is a lot of content missing. The developers are clearly planning to add a lot more content in the future. We see PVP is also on the table (no pun intended), and there will simply be more things to do. As it currently stands, you’re already getting quite a bit of content to start building your store while also collecting toys and cards. It will take you several hours to properly expand your store, unlock new stock, and even decorate it as you see fit. We are mainly looking forward to several comfort features, such as hiring workers or having a proper stockroom to stow away excess goods. Currently, it’s very hard to sit down at one of the tables and play a few races, as people will be lining up at the register, and some may leave if the queue is already too long.

Conclusion

We already loved what Supercar Collection Simulator had to offer, and with so much more content on the way, we can see ourselves revisiting this title a lot to run our digital store. We look forward to more automation features and PVP, ensuring you can do more than handle stock and sit behind the counter. If you’re a fan of simulation titles such as this, we suggest looking into this one, as even in its current state, it does not disappoint.
