The Bard’s Tale IV launches on Kickstarter
It is time to revive the Western dungeon crawler. To do this, inXile entertainment can sure use our help on Kickstarter to bring us the long-awaited sequel to the genre-defining Bard’s Tale trilogy. The creators are looking to raise a whopping $1.25 million with plans to invest at least another $1.25 million from their own funds on top.
The Bard’s Tale IV is planned to feature:
– labyrinths and dungeons chock-full of dangerous traps, puzzles, and challenges
– the winding streets of the city of Skara Brae and its outlying environments
– first-person dungeon crawler exploration style of the original trilogy
– a story centring on a new Skara Brae built upon the ruins of the old
– returning familiar gameplay concepts as No-Magic Zones and Magic Mouths
– a graphical leap thanks to the Unreal 4 engine
– Scottish culture, including a soundtrack inspired by Gaelic music
– the use of photogrammetry to create in-game 3D objects from photos of architecture, taken right in Scotland
– intricate interactions
– an update from the classic gameplay to feature a dynamic phase combat system and constantly evolving enemy strategy
