It is time to revive the Western dungeon crawler. To do this, inXile entertainment can sure use our help on Kickstarter to bring us the long-awaited sequel to the genre-defining Bard’s Tale trilogy. The creators are looking to raise a whopping $1.25 million with plans to invest at least another $1.25 million from their own funds on top.
The Bard’s Tale IV is planned to feature:
– labyrinths and dungeons chock-full of dangerous traps, puzzles, and challenges
– the winding streets of the city of Skara Brae and its outlying environments
– first-person dungeon crawler exploration style of the original trilogy
– a story centring on a new Skara Brae built upon the ruins of the old
– returning familiar gameplay concepts as No-Magic Zones and Magic Mouths
– a graphical leap thanks to the Unreal 4 engine
– Scottish culture, including a soundtrack inspired by Gaelic music
– the use of photogrammetry to create in-game 3D objects from photos of architecture, taken right in Scotland
– intricate interactions
– an update from the classic gameplay to feature a dynamic phase combat system and constantly evolving enemy strategy
– much, much more
