The hottest games in 2024
2023 has already been a year full of fantastic video and computer game releases.
Gamers can hardly decide between the many different offerings. This will not change in 2024. If you point your finger at any month with your eyes closed, like in a game of chance, you will find an upcoming top hit there.
But if you prefer real gambling on the Internet, then you should definitely take a look at the smartcasinoguide. Here you can get acquainted with the hottest creations and providers in online casino games, which are becoming more and more popular among users.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at the highlights that the gaming world can expect in 2024. Below are 10 games that we are particularly looking forward to.
Prince of Persia: The lost Crown
It’s hard to believe that the Prince of Persia franchise is already over 30 years old. In 1989, the first game in the popular series was released, driving many a gamer to bite the controller. With The Sands of Time, a modernization of the action platformer succeeded, and with The Lost Crown, the next part of the popular saga awaits us in the new year. This time, the main character is not the nameless prince but a new protagonist named Sargon. He has to fight his way through impassable terrain to the cursed city on Mount Qaf. The adventure takes place in 2.5D and draws clear inspiration from the original from 1989, but the graphics are up-to-date. What awaits us in this game is also lush action. Sargon uses two swords to attack his opponents.
Tekken 8
Since the announcement of Tekken 8, the world of beat’em ups has been holding its breath. We are already seeing gameplay videos, and the graphics are more than impressive. What stands out at first glance is that the new edition continues the trend of Tekken 7. The game and the characters are increasingly going into more fantastic realms compared to the realistic mechanics of the first parts. So we can look forward to spectacular color effects, dramatic special moves, and, of course, a roster with familiar old names.
Marshal Law, Paul, King, and Jin Kazama are all back, of course. Of course, we’re especially excited to see the new faces that have joined the roster. The gameplay will offer little that is completely new, and that’s a good thing. To this day, Tekken is and remains the standard when it comes to 3-dimensional fighting games. The updates here are more in the details, which is, of course, already noticeable in professional circles.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
In 1998, Square Enix launched the game Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation 1, and the world changed fundamentally with it. For many gamers in the West, this was the first time they came into contact with a genuine RPG. To this day, Final Fantasy VII is considered one of the most successful and influential games in the world.
So, of course, it was only a matter of time before Square Enix tackled an update of the classic. That happened a few years ago with the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake. The first part took place entirely within the city of Midgar, but was able to perfectly capture the atmosphere and characters of the original. The gameplay is much more action-heavy; hack’n’slash with RPG elements are on the agenda. We’re excited to see how the game develops when we can finally dive into the open world of the Final Fantasy VII mythos.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
The release of Luigi’s Mansion was a real surprise for many gamers. Instead of the famous brother Mario, Nintendo went with the green-painted Luigi when the GameCube was released. Hardly anyone could have guessed back then that this would develop into a real classic. Next year, we can now expect the sequel with its release on the Nintendo Switch. As far as we can see, the gameplay will basically not differ from the first part. The player takes on the role of Luigi and goes ghost hunting in a gloomy, old mansion. His weapon of choice is the Poltergust 5000, a highly specialized vacuum cleaner that can be used to suck in the boos in a targeted manner. It will be exciting to see how the developers incorporate the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch into the gameplay. One thing is already certain: There will be a lot of fun here.
Rise of the Ronin
It’s been quiet around Team Ninja for a long time. The development team is known for quite a few classic franchises. These include the fighting game Dead or Alive, the action-adventure series Ninja Gaiden, and last but not least, the Japanese interpretation of the Soulsborne genre, Nioh. The developers from Tokyo would like to add another series to this one next year.
As expected from Team Ninja, Rise of the Ronin is about a dedicated Japanese story. The player takes on the role of a ronin, a masterless samurai who gets caught up in the events of the Boshin War between the Tokugawa Shogunate and its opponents. The player will have numerous weapons from that era at his disposal, including katanas and naginatas, but also the first firearms that slowly but surely made their presence felt at that time. It is an action-adventure game. We are curious to see whether the game will focus more on action or emphasize tactical elements.
Star Wars Outlaws
It would be a shame if we had to endure a year without a new Star Wars game. Fortunately, Star Wars Outlaws remedies this situation, and in 2024 we will again find ourselves in the faraway galaxy, where Jedi, smugglers, rebels, and imperialists cavort. Particularly fittingly, Star Wars Outlaws is a third-person action adventure game. Here, it seems to revolve primarily around personal preferences, with the player taking on the role of a smuggler preparing for the biggest haul of her career. Locomotion on foot or in vehicles is available. Exciting laser duels will occur sooner or later, of course. The plot is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. We are curious to see if we will meet a familiar face from the Star Wars mythos.
The Wolf Among Us 2
Telltale Games is known for its dramatic, graphic adventures that feel like some sort of interactive movie. With today’s trend towards more action and spectacular graphic effects, it’s almost a little surprising how successful the predecessor, The Wolf Among Us, was. But in the end, a good story is more crucial than impressive graphics. The story about werewolves and shapeshifters clearly draws inspiration from film noir and makes you think of old detective movies. At the same time, the player has choices at various points that influence the course of the story. We are already curious about the continuation of the story.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
The Lord of the Rings is a core element of our modern pop culture, especially since the brilliant film adaptation by Peter Jackson. And almost every year, we can visit the world of Middle-earth on our computers or consoles. In 2024, we go back to the mines of Moria, where the dwarves of Middle Earth searched for precious metals for many years. The game takes place in the Fourth Age, after the events of The Lord of the Rings. The player must recapture the mines of Moria and, to do so, take control of a dwarven clan. To do this, he can build a base, collect resources, and develop new technologies. Hunting for food and confronting trolls and orcs are also on the program.
Earthblade
Especially among hardcore gamers, the Metroidvania genre has gained absolute cult status in recent years. The mixture of platformer and exploration adventure caters to a certain taste, which can’t really be satisfied with most mainstream releases. And Earthblade is exactly in this vein. The player takes control of the protagonist Nevoa and explores a world that was hit by a catastrophe and is now slowly recovering. In the process, he can jump over platforms, take out enemies, and explore a beautiful, creative pixel world.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Comic book heroes have become an integral part of our pop culture. Especially through the Marvel movies, the characters from Marvel and DC Comics are on everyone’s lips these days. The world of video games has not been spared either. Every year, we can expect several releases in which Batman, Superman, or the Avengers play the main roles.
In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, however, things are a bit different than what we’re usually used to. The player takes control of one of four anti-heroes: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, or King Shark. The Brainiac has conquered Metropolis and brought the Justice League under his control. Now it’s up to the Suicide Squad to put an end to these goings-on. In terms of gameplay, we expect an action-heavy brawler that will probably draw some inspiration from the battle system of the Batman: Arkham series. We are especially excited about the co-op mode, where you can enjoy the action together with three other players. The release of this game is announced for February.
