The Midnight King reveals himself in Guild Wars 2

ArenaNet has revealed more details about the fourth and chapter of Guild Wars 2‘s Secrets of the Obscure expansion. Titled “The Midnight King,” this concluding chapter of the expansion introduces a variety of new gameplay features, including the final confrontation between the Astral Ward and the extra-planar Kryptis. Players can look forward to an epic new open-world meta event in the Inner Nayos map, leading them to the gates of the Citadel of Zakiros. Additionally, the legendary armor from February’s Realm of Dreams update can now be upgraded to a visually enhanced second tier, and new relics will expand character build options.

Alongside the closing chapter of the expansion, this release introduces The Lonely Tower, a new Fractal of the Mist, which is a five-player instance encounter. A new final boss awaits in Convergences, the expansion’s 50-player PvE engagement, and a more challenging mode for all Convergences bosses has been added to test players’ skills against the toughest Kryptis adversaries. Additionally, a refresh of rewards from the Wizard’s Vault is included, along with a new UI update that allows players to customize the color and shape of their targeting reticle in Action Camera mode. Various other in-game rewards are also available. The final release for Secrets of the Obscure launches on May 21, free for all expansion owners.
