The Outlast Trials officially start today
Today sees the arrival of the full version of Red Barrels’ cooperative multiplayer variant of the acclaimed survival horror franchise, Outlast. Titled The Outlast Trials, the game is now available across various digital storefronts. The V1 release incorporates feedback from players gathered since the game’s Early Access launch on PC in May 2023, during which it sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide. The full version of the game features new content, enhancements, additional Trials, character customization options, weekly challenges, controller support, and cross-play functionality across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Red Barrels has strived to improve upon the already terrifying survival horror experience.
The Outlast Trials is set in 1959, where the Murkoff Corporation recruits test subjects through a recruitment agency to transform them into obedient sleeper agents. These individuals, known as “Reagents”, undergo brutal physical and psychological trials until they are conditioned for absolute obedience and reintegrated into society, awaiting activation at a strategic moment. Players assume the role of one of these untrained civilians and have the ability to customize their appearance and living quarters within the Sleep Room—a space where Reagents interact with others, unwind between experiments, or engage in activities like chess or arm wrestling. The Outlast Trials is available digitally for digital download on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The Standard Edition comes in at €39.99 and the deluxe edition, which also includes the Reagent Starter Pack will set you back €49.99. The Reagent Starter Pack is also available as separate DLC for €19.99.
