United Games Entertainment announces a TAITO mini console

It only seems like yesterday that mini consoles were all the rage, from the immensely popular NES and SNES mini to the painfully flopped PlayStation mini. As the craze has died down for a bit, United Games Entertainment is about to throw some gas on the fire with their new TAITO’s EGRET II mini. When you say Japan and Arcade your mind will immediately turn to those huge arcades filled with various cabinets, where you can spend a lot of money and enjoy yourself for hours on end. While bartop arcades might be a popular alternative for home usage, the TAITO EGRET II mini is the mini console variant of that. Set to be released in western Europe starting 2022, we couldn’t be more excited.

Key features include:

  • A total of 40 pre-installed games, including classics such as Space Invaders, Lunar Rescue, Bubble Bobble, Darius Gaiden and many more
  • 5-inch 4:3 rotating screen (1024×768 resolution) for horizontal and vertical alignment and an optimal adaptation to the selected game
  • Joystick individually adjustable for each game – easily switch from 8 directions to 4 directions
  • HDMI output to play the games also on TV
  • Two USB Type-A controller ports for the different EGRET II mini controllers (that are sold separately)
  • Power inlet via USB Type-C port
  • SD card slot to add even more games
  • Own integrated sound through stereo speakers
  • Instruction panel for exchangeable instruction cards
  • Special in-game features like: Save states, adjustable lives and rapid-fire

If you can’t get enough of your arcade, and you want to upgrade it, then you will be glad to hear that there is an EGRET II mini Paddle and Trackball Game Expansion Set planned. This includes an SD card that comes with ten additional games such as Arkanoid, Pump Pop, Strike Bowling, and seven other Classics.
