We have got the chance to review the Wiko MINZ+, a phone that offered the basic functionalities of a cell phone. Wiko offers other phones as well with a bit more possibilities, like the Darkfull. The question is if this phone offers anything else than the other brands.

Design

The Wiko Darkfull is a real pearl when it comes to the design. First of all, you have a 5” screen with clear and vivid colours. This display is finished with curved edges, which gives the phone a tight but elegant look. The sides of the Wiko Darkfull have a smooth surface and the combination with the more matte cover makes the phone pleasant to touch, without losing points for style. The exterior speaker and the camera have been placed strategically to keep the cover clutter-free but with the necessities close by.

Comfort

Although the smartphone is quite big with its 5” screen, it is quite a lightweight and really thin.  Another great aspect of the big screen is that you will have the chance to have your apps on a bigger monitor. Since the Wiko Darkfull has curved edges, you won’t have any problems to use your phone for a longer period of time. Another comfort-bonus is that you will have a bit more grip with the matte cover.

These elements might be small, but are big advantages that you will learn to love over time.

There are some  small remarks as well. For starters, since the camera is at the top of the phone, it might happen that you will take pictures of your finger. This is something you’ll need to keep in mind when you’re using the camera. The second remark is about the screen. It is normal that you need to touch the screen but it is really hard to get rid of dirty finger marks.

Specs

  • Quad Core 1.5 GHz processor
  • Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean
  • 5” full HD screen
  • 13 MP camera
  • USB
  • Dual SIM
  • 16 GB internal memory

Overview

Let us start with the screen. As stated before, the Darkfull has a 5” screen but has been treated with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 to keep your phone safe from scratches. Next to that, this telephone offers you full HD with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This will lead to great graphics.

The cover of the Wiko has one exterior speaker. Although you might consider that this won’t be enough, think again! The sound is really clear and can reach a high volume.

The side of the phone contains two slots for your SIM cards. Yes, you will have Dual SIM with this smartphone which is great if you want to keep work and private life separated.

If you want to unlock your phone, you can swipe in three directions. Swiping to the left will give you access to your camera, while unlocking the top icon will take you to your menu for making a call. If you want to unlock your phone, you’ll need to swipe to the right.

As for the operating system, it comes automatically with the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 and you will have a Quad Core 1.5GHz processor. You will have the possibility to navigate quickly in your menu and this gives you the chance to have bigger and/or “heavier” apps without any delay or lag.

The Wiko Darkfull has some other goodies as well, especially the camera functions. There are three main functionalities: Sphere, Burst and CinemaGraph. Sphere gives you the chance to recreate a bubble image of your surroundings so you have a fisheye panorama photo afterwards. This is a great idea but you’ll need to train yourself a bit to stay steady. The reproduced images doesn’t represent the actual location completely though. The Burst function takes 99 photos in one shot, to give you that perfect picture. The last function gives you the possibility to add moving elements to your photos. We also need to mention that you will have a 13 MP camera, giving you a great tool at hand.

There are a two minor remarks as well. First of all, you cannot open the device anymore. This is something that is getting more common, but it has some downsides as well. For example, when your phone is totally jammed and you need to do a hard reset, this won’t be possible anymore. Another aspect is that, although the phone has 16 GB internal memory, there isn’t any room for placing extra memory with a Micro SD. This can be a real downside if you’re going to use your phone for a lot of things which require space or if you want to transfer data from one device to another.

Now about the gaming on this Wiko Darkfull. Since it has such a processor, this baby can handle loads of games, even the bigger and heavier ones. With the 1920*1080 resolution screen, you will have great graphics, which makes gaming even more fun. Another bonus is that the telephone doesn’t heat up a lot. This is definitely a big plus when playing a game. The battery dies quickly when you’re playing a lot though, so be ready to recharge your phone on a daily basis.

Conclusion

To answer our question, the Wiko Darkfull offers you quite a lot and is a good possibility when you’re looking for a new phone. It has a great processor and a big screen with wonderful colours. It won’t have any problems handling bigger apps. Providing Dual SIM, this phone might be a good choice for a business telephone as well. If you want to install apps that take a lot of space, it might be a better idea to look for another model, since this one can’t be upgraded with a Micro SD.
