Yooka and Laylee make the jump to classic platforming in The Impossible Lair, out now!
Playtonic Game’s spiritual successors to Banjo and Kazooie tackle a different genre in Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair. Unlike the original game, which tried to revive the 3D platformers of the Nintendo 64 era, this new entry in the franchise has the duo engage with their sworn enemy Capital B in a 2,5D platformer. The dastardly Capital B has captured Queen Phoebe’s Royal Beettallion and built a seemingly impervious fortress, which is the namesake of the game. The Impossible Lair is set across 20 levels and features an expansive 3D overworld, with an environment that dynamically transforms into brand-new experiences as you uncover new secrets and puzzles.
The game runs in 60FPS on all platforms and also sees the return of Tonics, game-modifying potions that give the players the ability to customize their game using new visual effects, character skins, more challenging enemies, and much more. To celebrate the launch of the Impossible Lair, a new Tonic, featuring a 64-bit version of the main characters has been added as a free download to the original game too. The game is available digitally on PC, PS4, XBox One and Switch for €29,99. A physical version for the console versions has also been released.
