Cardfight!! Vanguard Stride Deckset: Luard
With the reintroduction of Shiranui, it was only a matter of time before we featured the second new Stride Deckset for Cardfight!! Vanguard’s Standard format. This time around, it’s Dragheart, Luard that makes its return, now giving Keter Sanctuary its own Stride Deckset as well. So far, we have seen Stride Decksets for Dark States (Chronojet), Brandt Gate (Messiah), and Dragon Empire (Shiranui). For now, we’ll take a look at the return of the Shadow Paladin for Keter Sanctuary’s Stride Deckset, but it should only be a matter of time before we can delve into the missing nations’ Stride Decksets. Even so, we were quite stoked to see the return of Luard. If you wish to learn more about the Stride mechanic as a whole, we suggest clicking here to read our original Chronojet article.
As mentioned in our Shiranui’s Stride Deckset article, the sets come in two variations, which goes the same for Stride Deckset -Luard- as well. You’ll have the regular edition, which includes a nifty storage box, a full Luard Deck, and sleeves with beautiful Luard art. Again, there is also a Premium version available that comes with a fully foiled deck, a durable deck box, a playmat, and a few other goodies. The storage box you’ll get with the Premium version also allows you to store a lot more Cardfight!! Vanguard cards. All in all, it’s a great package if you’re looking to make Luard your main deck for playing Cardfight!! Vanguard.
Just as was the case with the previous Stride Decksets, Luard also introduces a new mechanic for the Standard format. In this case, it’s Ritual that gets introduced. Ritual works with the number of Grade 1 cards you have in your Drop Zone, and when the specified number of Grade 1 cards in your Drop Zone are present, an effect will trigger or become available. Thanks to the Ritual effect your Stride may get an additional drive check, an extra critical, more power, and even the ability to prevent the other player from using cards that are higher than Grade 1 in their Guardian Circle. The deck does take a bit of work to get your Field setup just right, but when it all clicks, Luard is a force to be reckoned with.
As we have mentioned before, the Stride Decksets offer Cardfight!! Vanguard players with highly competitive decks that stay relevant for quite some time. The new Ritual mechanic puts your grey matter at work, but when you set up your field just right, you’ll drive your opponent into a corner they will struggle to get out of. You can further customize this deck with your preferred Trigger lineup or cards that are found in Cardfight!! Vanguard Booster Packs.
