It’s been a while since we last discussed one of AVM’s products, and while we aren’t experts when it comes to internet solutions, we still enjoy presenting our readers with reviews of the latest and newest hardware. In this case, we are actually revisiting AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 6000, as it’s a great time of the year to find sales on interesting hardware or to ask for a neat product for Christmas. So, without further ado, we present you with our short review of the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 which has been updated with the latest WiFi 6 technology.

Just like any other AVM products we had the pleasure of reviewing in the past, we could simply go through a no-hassle setup. We simply had to plug in the device and press the WPS button while pairing it to our FRITZ!Box 4060 (which we’ll review soon). We basically just had to wait a minute before we could start using the repeater to the fullest. If you already own a FRITZ!Box device, then you can use the mesh capabilities. By using said capabilities, you’ll create one big network with only one access, rather than additional access points. This means you can walk around your house or office, and you will not have to swap to the repeater with the best signal. AVM products are clearly made to work great together, and it’s no exception in this scenario either. If you wish to pair the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 with a device from another brand, it follows almost the same steps. We suggest following the steps in the manual, and you should be fine then. Even with different brands, there are no real connection issues, and you’ll also be up and running rather quickly.

The overall performance is great. We didn’t notice a signal quality loss compared to our devices that were close to the router, which is certainly a plus. With the WiFi 6 technology backing this device up, you’ll be able to support more devices easily without any connection issues. As always, however, the overall stability and signal quality still depend on your internet subscription as well. If you have a low-speed connection, the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 will not boost your download or upload speeds. The repeater also has two Gigabit LAN ports, allowing you to connect two additional devices that don’t support a WiFi connection. This could also be useful for console gaming where you want to ensure a more stable connection.

This is perhaps something most people don’t care that much about when buying a repeater, but the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a good-looking device. The overall glossy white exterior case can match every type of interior. The device doesn’t plug into a wall outlet directly, like the FRITZ!Repeater 1200, and instead works via a cable. The base is sturdy, and it’s not easy to tip over the device.

Conclusion

AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a premium repeater for any home or office setting. As always, the repeater works best with AVM’s other premium-quality devices, but it’s also a great asset if you do not own a FRITZ!Box modem. The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is also a future-proof device thanks to its mesh capabilities and the WiFi 6 technology backing things up. We enjoyed smooth gaming sessions thanks to the FRITZ!Repeater 6000, and we also didn’t notice any issues when binging our favorite shows and movies.
