Cardfight!! Vanguard DZ Booster Pack 04: Destined Showdown

Bushiroad is on fire, especially when looking at the latest Booster Pack releases. We have discussed the release of DZ Booster Pack 03: Dimensional Transcendence only recently, and DZ Booster Pack 04: Destined Showdown is already knocking at the door. While Booster Pack 03 focuses more on general support and a few new interesting Ridelines, Booster Pack 04 introduces us to a variety of Destined One units. As always, we’d love to discuss everything this Booster Pack has to offer, but then we’d be filling quite a few pages with text. It’s best to dive in with some of the highlights while also allowing loyal players to discover everything this Booster Pack has to offer.

As stated in the introduction, Destined Showdown introduces Destined One Vanguards. We’ll see new Ridelines that revolve around, Destined One of Scales, Aelquilibra, Destined One of Exceedance, Impauldio, Destined One of Protection, Alden, Destined One of Infinity, Levidras, and Destined One of Supremacy, Lisciafael. All the Destined One Vanguard units will also have their own Divine Skill they can use once during a single fight. The effects of course vary, thus making sure there are quite a few new possible deck recipes to experiment with. While all of the Divine Skills are impressive in their own right, there are a few original ones that truly stand out here.

For example, Destined One of Supremacy, Lisciafael’s Divine Skill not only allows Lisciafael to Stand and attack again with one less Drive Check, but it also grants the Vanguard an additional 5000 power and one additional Crit for the remainder of the fight. This means that the opponent is facing a Vanguard that has 18000 power. This creates openings to create a very defensive deck, while also still benefiting from the additional Crit during the player’s turn to apply more pressure. Another very defensive Vanguard would be Destined One of Exceedance, Impauldio. Impauldio focuses on defense thanks to its Set Order Token, which allows the Vanguard to gain power when taking damage. Defense is not everything Impauldio has to offer, however, as its Divine Skill allows for two additional Drive Checks and one additional Crit, creating hand advantage and a whole lot of pressure.

Be sure to check out all the other Destined One units when you are looking into making a DZ Booster Pack 04 deck, as all new Vanguard units have a lot to offer. Levidras has a unique mechanic that allows it to place markers on both your and your opponent’s field, while Aelquilibra may dish out additional damage. Last but not least, Alden can easily flood the field to aim for additional attacks.

If you’re eager to try out your new decks, be sure to keep an eye on sanctioned events via the Bushi Navi app. There are quite a few interesting ones scheduled at the beginning of 2025, such as Yumenokessho Cup Vol.3. These events not only offer a fun opportunity to try out new deck builds, but they reward players with cool promo cards and even special playmats.
