Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Alpha launched today. Here is what it will look like

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey has an alpha version that’s out right now, and it will be released in multiple phases. The alpha will run over several weeks, gradually introducing players to new gameplay features and expanding the amount of content they can access. The phases will be as followed:

Phase 1: Grouped in a single star system with all other Commanders, the game should offer more than enough interaction. The core systems and network features will be focussed on most of all. Players can purchase the Remlock Maverick scavenger suit and the Takada and Kinematic weapon sets, and take part in a selection of activities, including salvage, collection, and delivery.  Spaceships will become available later.

Phase 2: First-person combat will become available with the Manticore Dominator combat suit. You also get to travel up to 20 light-years away with your own spaceship, and partake in more missions and trading with settlements.

Phase 3: You can go up to 50 light-years, get the Supratech Artemis explorer suit, and analyze alien organics with the Genetic Sampler tool.

Phase 4: In the very last phase, players will get access to their own Commanders, and test the inclusion of existing features in the main game, like Fleet Carriers, ship-launched Fighters, and SRVs.
