We recently took a closer look at Kioxia’s TransMemory U365 USB-stick, which proved to be a great and affordable USB stick. Of course, there are many storage solutions, and as we are a gaming website first and foremost, we do like to cover all bases. USB sticks are certainly a welcome tool in a gamer’s set-up, but so are external hard drives for consoles or micro-SD cards for mobile gamers. Recently with the influx of handheld devices such as Valve’s Steam Deck, having storage to install your favorite games has never been more important. In this very short review, we’ll be taking a look at Kioxia’s 128GB model of the Exceria High Endurance microSDXC UHS-I Card.

As expected, there is often nothing very flashy when it comes to the design of these tiny Micro-SD cards. Out of the 128 GB that is advertised, you’ll have around 115 GB of available storage for your files or games. This might not sound like a lot, but for handheld consoles such as Nintendo’s Switch, this actually provides quite a bit of storage. We do advise this more for Switch gamers who love to buy a lot of physical games, with the occasional eShop game being downloaded on the card. As Nintendo download titles are often only a few GB in size, you’ll probably be able to store quite a few games. Titles such as the recently released Batman: Arkham Trilogy will take up a hefty chunk of storage space with its 47 GB file size, however. This card is also great to use for a Steam Deck or ROG Ally, as it will still provide storage room for a few of your favorite games.

Of course, performance plays a big part in deciding if a certain storage solution suits what you need. In this case, the Exceria High Endurance microSDXC UHS-I Card reached average reading speeds of 91 MB/s and writing speeds of 70 MB/s. This means that the card is of high quality, and it will easily transfer the files you need in mere moments.

Conclusion

Kioxia’s Exceria High Endurance microSDXC UHS-I Card offers a great experience for those looking for a reliable storage solution. While the 128 GB model may not convince hardcore gamers, it’s a good thing that the hardware manufacturer also offers models with a higher storage volume. As a whole, the Micro-SD card performed perfectly across the board. For more information, we suggest consulting the official product page.
