Vanguard Exiles hits Early Access today!
Today, developer The Tea Division, in collaboration with Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield, announced the Early Access launch of their auto-battler Vanguard Exiles. (Not to be confused with Cardfight!! Vanguard). The game combines elements of online card games and board games, with the game board constantly rearranging itself after each round. Players control a variety of Squad combinations, set in a fantasy, post-World War I dieselpunk world where magic and technology merge. The objective is simple: conquer enough territory to win the round. Success hinges on strategic decisions and tactical play, making each battle a challenge.
Each Unit in the game has its own identity, featuring unique appearances, traits, and abilities. Squads consist of different combinations of Units and Actions, and while combat is automated, strategy remains key. Players must make thoughtful tactical decisions to secure victory. With a complex ruleset, Vanguard Exiles aims to teach players the intricacies of gameplay rather than overwhelm them. After each round, players can review the chances of their victory, providing valuable insight into the strategic choices made during the match. The game encourages continuous learning, offering ample opportunity for players to refine their strategies and adapt to different playstyles. A demo is available on Steam, featuring a single-player mode where players can practice against an AI opponent and familiarize themselves with the game’s Units and Actions. The full experience, however, shines in PvP, which is available in Early Access, alongside new Units and Actions. Vanguard Exiles is available on Steam Early Access today, priced at $14.99 / €14.79 / £12.79.
